Tueq
LENGTH: 257ft. 5in. (78.47m)
SHIPYARD: Van der Giessen, Holland
YEAR: 2002
De Voogt designed the yacht with naval architecture by Azure and SETE Yacht (now PrivatSea) managed the project’s various subcontractors. It was a commercial shipyard (specializing mostly in the construction of ferries) that built the vessel in only 26 months, which probably helped Tueq escape scrutiny when she was launched. A few years later, Tueq moved up in ranking after a 23-foot extension, including interior layout alterations and extension of the propulsion system in 2006. Twin Wärtsilä diesel engines propel the yacht with very little noise and vibration at a cruising speed of about 16 knots, and three MAN generators provide enough power to run a small town, a good thing since the yacht reportedly can accommodate 26 guests and at least 21 crewmembers. The elegant Tueq reportedly is the private yacht of Saudi Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz.
