The American market is again becoming primordial to European yachtbuilders’ bottom line. One evidence of this is the Azimut Benetti Group’s recent announcement that it is expanding its long-standing relationship with the largest US marine dealer, MarineMax, in several important markets––the Midwest, Texas, northern Gulf Coast and West Coast. With this expansion, MarineMax is now the exclusive dealer for the Azimut and Atlantis yacht lines in the continental United States, with the exception of Florida, where YB International Yacht Brokers remains the local Atlantis brand dealer. MarineMax Chairman, President and CEO Bill McGill, Jr. predicted the expanded market area foster long-term growth both for his company and for the Azimut Benetti Group. The relationship between the two companies has already been beneficial to the brand exposure in the United States. MarineMax brokers often travel to the Azimut Benetti shipyards and have input on models specifically suited for the US market. Such is the case for the upcoming Azimut 84, American edition, debuting at the Yacht & Brokerage Show in Miami Beach in February 2013. While it has a décor similar to the version launched in Europe designed by famous Italian interior architect Achille Salvagni, the layout has been thoroughly rethought and adapted to the American boater.
