Furniture Afloat

Seriban wood-boat builder, Art of Kinetik, planned to launch a new model, the Antagonist, in June. Antagonist is a 37-foot open weekend cruiser that slots in below the company’s flagship model, the 63-foot Hedonist. The yacht features an unusually large open cockpit that provides space for up to eight people. It has a spacious sunbathing area astern framed by two teak-covered side decks that comprise a swim platform. The interior is air-conditioned.

Powered by twin 370-hp Yanmar diesels, the Antagonist can reach a top speed of 42 knots. Its reverse-sheer bow and “woody” look, make a fetching feast for the eyes.

Fish Beware

Scout Boats’ new center console, the 345 XSF Sportfish, is the second largest boat in the Scout fleet behind the 350 Abaco Series. It features Scout’s Stepped Hull Technology for higher performance and increased fuel economy. The 345 boasts a top speed in the mid- to upper-60s with twin Yamaha 350 hp outboards. It gains range from a 330-gallon fuel tank. At 34’11” in length with a beam of 10’9”, the boat is sleek, stylish and very roomy for anglers and gear. The helm offers a powder-coated, patented T-top hardtop with a glass enclosure, 11 rocket launchers, and an optional electric retractable fiberglass sunshade that gives way to a moon roof in the hardtop.

Wetted Gliss

If you’re tired of messing about with fuel and noise with your PWC, you might consider the Gliss-Speed—at least for guests who don’t mind doing a casual 15 knots instead of 60.

GlissSpeed

Built by a French company, these “water karts” will run 2 ½ hours at 10 knots on a lithium ion phosphate battery. They’re quiet and they don’t pollute.
