America’s Cup Skipper: ‘There’s no turning back’
During a press conference, attendees acknowledged that the latest America’s Cup did much to enhance the sport of sailing and brought the event to a broad fan base. Lauding boss Larry Ellison, skipper James Spithill said the success of the event had “silenced the critics,” adding, “There’s no turning back.”

Sailing’s Comeback Kids
It was, with a nod to Red Sox fans, the sports comeback of all time. Emirates Team New Zealand, the clear leader early in the America’s Cup, was unable to stave off a late charge by Larry Ellison’s Oracle Team USA that suddenly found legs to sweep the final eight races and win the Auld Mug. In each race, the Kiwis were on match point and, for eight races, they lost to a steadily improving Oracle.
Ocean Reef’s Vintage Weekend
This year is Ocean Reef Club’s 19th annual Vintage Weekend, a four-day event showcasing classic automobiles, aircraft and yachts. From Thursday, December 5 through Sunday, December 8, members and guests will gather for a variety of activities such as a costume dinner and dance, a yacht hop, a road rally, a beachfront reception and an airshow.

Coast Guard sued over wind farm off Nantucket
The Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound has filed a federal lawsuit against the Coast Guard, the latest in a series of suits against federal officials and agencies by groups opposing the planned Cape Wind offshore wind farm at Horseshoe Shoal that will include 130 windmills within sight of the shore.
