Innovation Honored in Miami by the NMMA
The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) announced the winners of its 2013 Innovation Awards in Miami last week.
Miami 2013: Galeon Raptor 700
The newest iteration of the Galeon 700 owes its looks to Tony Castro and the Galeon shipyard, and now it comes with a flybridge. A sea trial onboard convinced us that the Polish builder knows just how to thrill.
Miami 2013: Pershing 82
The successor of the Pershing 80 is here. And Pershing fans will adore it for its horsepower (up to about 5,000 hp), top speed of 45 knots and style. Its interior is reminiscent of a Manhattan loft with dark oak and Poltrona Frau leather.
Miami 2013: Ferretti 870
The new Ferretti 870 is available in two options: roll bar or a hard top over the flybridge. Either way, the flybridge is attractive, with lounging space aplenty, dinette and exterior helm. The Jacuzzi aft can be used to cool off or, topped up with cushion, to expand the already large sunpad.
Miami 2013: Sunreef 82 Double Deck
Superyachts, and particularly their sprawling decks, inspired Sunreef’s new 82-foot Double Deck sailing catamaran, Houbara.A 377-square-foot (35-square meter) flybridge —which includes the main helm station—tops the deckhouse, and the interior features a sumptuous owner’s suite.
Miami 2013: Hargrave 76
Pacific Northwest-based designer Jack Sarin has designed a new hull for this new 76-foot (23.17-meter) Hargrave yacht. It is equipped with all the right stuff—including Furuno electronics, satellite TV, watermakers and a 14-foot Yamaha tender.
This Year’s Boating Scene: It’s Looking up!
At the US winter shows, the boating industry puts its best foot forward. Between Miami and Palm Beach, the region hosts no fewer than five major boat shows. The Yacht & Brokerage Show on Miami Beach and the Miami International Boat Show, and related Strictly Sail, run February 14 to 18. These three shows mark the debut of dozens of new models and showcase hundreds of craft, from small center consoles to megayachts.
Miami 2013: Sunseeker Predator 80
Conceived as a yacht to appeal to yachtsmen of many tastes, the new Predator 80 will make a noted appearance in Miami. Sleek lines and an aggressive stance give the Predator power to draw the eye, but the details may be enough to keep it there.
Miami 2013: NISI 2400GT
NISI’s introduces its new 2400, GT edition. This was a custom order from a client but NISI will build this new model moving forward. Two additional feet in length have allowed the builder to expand the flybridge, now featuring a Jacuzzi and numerous spaces for entertaining.
Miami 2013: Outer Reef 720 Deluxbridge
Determined to provide the best every day life on board has to offer, Outer Reef introduces a new layout option for its Outer Reef 720, called Deluxbridge. This design moves the helm to the upper deck and pairs it with a comfortable L-shaped settee.
Miami 2013: Ferretti 690
The Ferretti 690 (the result of the usual collaboration between Studio Zuccon International Project, Advanced Yacht Technology (AYT) and Centro Stile Ferretti group) is sleek and sporty. The design gives the exterior a distinct look and brings more light into the yacht.
Miami 2013: Marlow Yachts 66 – Sea Foam
This is Hull No. 1 of Marlow’s new 66 model. This light green-hulled yacht—aptly named Sea Foam—is a command-bridge yacht with plenty of space for relaxing on long cruises. Moving the helm to the upper deck, where guests can also lounge on a comfortable L-shaped bench seat, opens up the main deck for several design options.
Miami 2013: Prestige 620 and 620S
Like the new 550, Prestige’s new 620 is available in both a sport (620S) and flybridge (620) model. Built with a full beam master suite amidships and two guest cabins forward on the lower deck, both versions of the 620 can comfortably sleep six.
Miami 2013: Fairline Targa 62 Gran Turismo
The Fairline Targa 62 Gran Turismo (GT) makes her Miami debut in February. Built to satisfy lovers of both open and enclosed yachts, this versatile boat has an expansive sunroof and large side windows to let plenty of breeze into the salon.
Miami 2013: Princess V62-S
Sporty and stylish, the new Princess V62-S expands the shipyard’s V Class series. With a low profile and sleek lines, the V62-S spreads the usual features and accommodations across two decks.
Miami 2013: Prestige 550 and 550S
Available in both a sport (550S) and a flybridge (550) edition, Prestige’s new 550 is a 58-foot yacht that combines power and safety. In both versions, the main living spaces are gathered on the main deck, with the galley positioned aft to easily serve both the cockpit and the interior dining area or, in the 550, the flybridge.
Miami 2013: Princess 56
The new Princess 56 is a lot of yacht fit in a hull shorter than 60 feet. The open flybridge includes two J-shaped seating areas, one surrounding a table for meals under the sky and the other close to the upper helm station.
Miami 2013: Azimut 55s
This newest addition to the Azimut’s S Collection represents a stunning shift in styling by Stefano Righini. Full of innovative features, the new 55S makes good use of the space-saving possibilities afforded by a triple Volvo IPS package, including a garage for a 9-foot 4-inch (2.85-meter) tender and an expandable beach club.

Recognizably Sessa, this new flybridge model designed by Christian Grande will ply US waters for the first time at the Miami show.
Miami 2013: Magnum 51 Bestia
It has been a few years since Magnum has showcased a boat in Miami, but this year Magnum returns with another attention-grabber. The Magnum 51 Bestia is a powerhouse of a boat with a solid hull and a top speed of 62 knots.
Miami 2013: Sessa C44
Based in Italy, Sessa Marine responded to customers’ requests for an open version of the C43 with its new C44. Available in two maindeck layouts, the C44 offers a spacious platform for entertaining small or large groups.

Italian boatbuilder Azimut-Benetti is certainly making waves with a refreshing new design that sets itself apart from more traditionally inspired designs. Our editors applaud the innovation and technical advances of the new Magellano 43, the entry-level model in Azimut’s Magellano long-range cruiser line, which includes the 74 and 50.
Miami 2013: Sealine F42
Versatility defines the new Sealine F42 where it seems everything on board serves a dual purpose. The dining area for six on the flybridge converts to an enormous sunpad, and the whole area can be covered by an optional bimini.
Miami 2013: Austin Parker 42
Austin Parker’s recognizable style is obvious in the AP42 Open, a compact hull that can easily serve as a tender to a large yacht or a cabin cruiser in its own right. The main deck has a spacious open-air aft deck leading into the salon/dining area with full galley and helm station.
