One watcher called it “Iron Chef on the water.” There’s no doubt competition was fierce during the Newport Charter Yacht Show’s Culinary Competition. Chefs were split into two classes—Grande, for yachts 100 feet and larger, and Premier, for yachts smaller than 100 feet. Participating yachts could also enter the show’s first tablescaping competition.
One of the 2012 International Superyacht Society (ISS) Design & Leadership Awards ceremony’s highlights, was the award for “Business Person of the Year Award.” A well-dressed and enthusiastic audience greeted Dean du Toit, founder of National Marine Suppliers, with a standing ovation as he came to the podium to accept his award.

The Editor’s Choice Award is a new AIM Marine Group event, recognizing the best the boating industry has to offer. It is a fast-paced multi-media evening, featuring food from restaurateur, DJ and author Steve Mortorano.
At the 2012 Monaco Yacht Show, the International SeaKeepers Society bestowed its Seakeeper Award on Agnès Troublé, better known to the world as “agnès b,” designer and successful entrepreneur.
The International SeaKeepers Society (ISKS), a global nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of the world’s oceans, was in Newport, R.I., in June. The organization held its summer gala at the New York Yacht Club at Harbour Court to coincide with the America’s Cup 45 series.
