Headquartered in Switzerland and founded in 2002 by Andrea Pezzini and Barbara Tambani, Floating Life is a boutique company providing 360-degree technical and management services in the nautical sector worldwide.
A family office, which offers tailor-made solutions to fulfil every client wish, Floating Life is managed by a group of qualified professionals with extensive experience across various fields of yachting. Thanks to the high professionalism and quality of its services in yacht management, the company has been certified ISO 9001:2015.
“We wanted to create a company and make it different,” explains Andrea Pezzini, director and co-founder of Floating Life. “Previously, the yacht management was mainly focused on captains. We instead work for the yacht owners, and we control everything for them, leaving them only the pure pleasure of enjoying the boat."
The roots of Pezzini’s family have been at sea since 1800 and Floating Life is today the result of all that heritage of culture, experience and passion made available to each customer.
“Our service has a strong administrative and accounting footprint since maintenance has become increasingly expensive,” explains Barbara Tambani, CEO and co-founder of Floating Life. “If megayachts over 100 meters have more than 50 crew members, even a boat that is defined as medium-small (27 to 37 meters) still has between 4 and 8 or more crew on board. All these yachts are, in fact, small companies, with financial statements and a proper structure. Nowadays, yacht owners are increasingly demanding to go into detail, and we do it for them, with a hyper-detailed budget, rigorous control of consumption and expenses combined with a meticulous search for savings.”
The Yacht and Technical Management services are the core business of the organization, but Floating Life offers much more with dedicated main divisions, besides Management, such as Charter & Brokerage, Concierge, Build & Technical, Fiscal & Legal, Safety & Security.
“It is no coincidence,” points out the CCO Filippo Rossi, “that the new slogan coined by Floating Life is ‘Your dream...our passion.’ Customers want more, starting with first-class precise and complete services in line with the kind of experience they have in mind and want to live.”
This brought Floating Life to design and offer a wide range of tailor-made services also for yacht charter, from concierge service and itineraries, to an infinite variety of onboard and ashore services to fulfill every whim and desire.
“For us, every time it is a challenge and we always aim to raise the bar,” continues Rossi. “Our customers are never left alone, starting from the moment they leave their own house. We arrange every kind of transfer and personalized itineraries, select best marinas, organize unforgettable excursions along the route. The boats are all carefully checked directly by our dedicated team to prevent and avoid any problems. It is very meticulous work because our organization is meticulous. The fleet we manage is located in every corner of the world. Our customers are Italian, Chinese, Indian, American and many other nationalities. Each nationality has its own different culture, cuisine and habits. And that’s why nothing can be left to chance.”
The relationship of trust that is thus created leads to another of Floating Life’s expertise: new construction.
“For the owners who want to build a boat from scratch, we offer our extensive experience to help them select the right project and best shipyard,” says Pezzini. “There is nothing more beautiful and romantic than starting from a blank sheet of paper and drawing a dream that will come true. A dream followed step by step during its realization by our experienced team of surveyors".
And always true to its spirit of innovation, Floating Life has been running the first fractional ownership program and fleet in yachting since 2009. A totally new philosophy and financial approach to owning a yacht that has evolved over the years and led to the launch of the Dream 42, a brand-new concept of shared ownership, which is based on co-ownership.
“Nothing represents this concept and embodies our vision better than the Dream 42.
This yacht, that we are building in fractional ownership, will have seven owners who share costs and enjoyment. The programme allows them to enjoy the luxury and comfort of a 43-meter yacht at the cost of a 22-meter. And also, for technical quality and innovation, the Dream 42 represents every owner’s dream. And that is also our dream as a company, since this exceptional project gave us the opportunity to put in good use everything, we have learned at sea in the last twenty years and all the expertise acquired during our previous managements".
