Pendennis Expands

Plans for the Pendennis expansion have been approved, and the shipyard will move ahead with construction and of new facilities including two wet docks and a wet basin. Also in the works are two seaward-facing halls large enough to accommodate yachts brought in by Pendennis’ current 400-ton travel hoist as well as support facilities like offices for staff, a hospitality suite and additional crew offices.

Singapore Yacht Show Dates Extended

The upcoming Singapore Yacht Show will open one day earlier than originally scheduled and will run from Thursday April 18th to Sunday April 21st, 2013. This year’s event will also include a fine art exhibition, a supercar show and a VIP gala event at the W Singapore–Sentosa Cove.

Hatteras and Cabo Yachts for Sale

With the decision by parent company Brunswick Corporation of Lake Forest, Illinois to sell off Hatteras and Cabo, approximately 105 workers will be laid off. In the company’s official statement on the decision, Brunswick Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dustan E. McCoy said, "This action reflects our decision to exit the sportfishing convertible category and to concentrate our resources in the yacht segment on our remaining brands, Sea Ray and Meridian Yachts. When completed, this action will also contribute to our goal of a break-even or better Boat Segment in 2013, even if the larger sterndrive/inboard fiberglass markets do not improve.”

Abu Dhabi Mar acquires Lindenau Schiffswert

The Abu Dhabi Mar Group, already parent company to several shipyards including Nobiskrug, recently acquired German shipyard Lindenau Schiffswert, based in Kiel. Part of the official statement from the company on the purchase says that Lindenau will help expand the group’s repair and refit capabilities, especially within the German naval fleet.
