The Marine Electronics Trade Show (METS) returns to Amsterdam November 13 to 15, a date that will mark the show’s 25th anniversary. The first edition of this trade-only show was held in 1988 with a little over 100 exhibitors. In 2011, the show attracted 1,331 exhibitors, organized in various international pavilions.

One of the reasons for the show’s growth is that it has become a launching pad for hundreds of new products, including pumps and accessories of all kinds.

This year is no exception with about 240 new products (as of today) from additives to ventilation systems, and everything in between. Recently, we published a brief article on Cerion’s new GO2 fuel additive, which seems effective in reducing emissions and extending mileage for each gallon of fuel. The trick is to obtain just the right mix. GO2 Global Yachting now offers a portable digital dosing system, which is designed to make the precise 1:4000 dosage easier.

Another recent addition to the world of yachting, are tablet-controlled management systems for everything from light to temperature to entertainment. One such new system, introduced at METS, comes from Vision Systems.

Helping to boost product innovation at METS is the DAME (Design Award METS), a prize for marine product design and innovation, introduced in 1991.

The show also offers a series of lectures and workshops, including the HISWA International Yacht Design & Construction Symposium, the International Council of Marine Industry Associations Marine/Technology Conference and the newly introduced Hybrid Conference.

If you go: METS 2012 is November 13, 14 and 15 at the Amsterdam RAI Convention Center.
