For day charters, guests will be picked up in Newport where fresh coffee, tea, juices and homemade pastries will be served in the yacht’s spacious open cockpit. They will be taken around Newport Harbor to take in the sights, before heading out to the start area to see these incredible sailing machines get into action. For lunch, the yacht will head up into Narragansett Bay for a short sail where guests can get behind the wheel and enjoy the thrills of sailing themselves. Depending on guest numbers, lunch can be either a formal sit-down affair or a more relaxed buffet style. After a day of sailing and spectating, More Magic and her crew will take guests back into Newport to watch the sun set whilst enjoying fresh canapés and cocktails.

Special day rate for the Cup World Series is $4,500, all-inclusive, for up to eight guests.

Officine Panerai has announced the kick-off of its Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge North American Circuit with an event honoring Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Panerai NA’s founding sponsorship of non-profit organization Sailing Heals.

The organization is calling the event a celebration of the healing power of the sea and it will be held in the prestigious Model Room at the New York Yacht Club in Manhattan on Wednesday, May 23 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with many legendary sailors in attendance. A photo exhibit and video featuring Panerai’s restoration of the 1936 ketch, Eilean—which was featured in Duran Duran’s “Rio” video 30 years ago—will also be on display.

Following the Memorial Day holiday, Panerai and Sailing Heals will be hosting sails for MSKCC patients and caregivers in New York Harbor on the 1938 vintage yawl (and winner of the 2011 PCYC NA Circuit), Black Watch.

Sailing Heals was launched as a non-profit organization in 2011 and offers sailing experiences to VIP patient guests, their caretakers and staff. The organization’s primary aim is to provide people in need with an “escape for a spirit-lifting day at sea.” It also tries to bring sailing and the healing properties of the sea to people who might not ordinarily be exposed to its benefits and aims to be the charity of choice for sailing and boating enthusiasts who are keen to give back to others and share the sport.
