Once an Olympic-class sailor, the original owner wanted this yacht not only to be a classic and comfortable expedition yacht capable of braving the toughest seas, but also to be a real tool in the fight against global warming. Just as his former and smaller yacht did, this Turmoil includes a laboratory for scientific research, but this lab includes an 800-gallon drop tank and four large nitrogen tanks made for air and water testing. The testing chamber is connected to a hard drive and Sat-C communications. She also includes a six-passenger Eurocopter for quick shore expeditions. A small faux stack houses a six-deck elevator. Ole Steen Knudsen and the late Tom Fexas designed the ice-breaking steel hull to exceed all classifications. Twin Caterpillar engines power the yacht, which has a 6500-nm range. She underwent a refit in 2011 and is shown by Camper & Nicholsons.
