Cranchi Shipyard's new XT 36 hard-top is smart as a trawler, spritely as a sport cruiser

Italian builder Cranchi has announced that its newest offering, the XT 36, is ready to debut. The new model’s name is a tribute to its spirit, according to the builder, with the "X" hinting at the crossover nature of the boat.

The planing hull ensures high peak speeds, but the space on board is rumored to be much larger than a typical sport cruiser. The XT 36 combines the functionality of a trawler with the thrill of a speedboat.

The "X" must also stand for "extra," considering its hard top and the surprising volume on the main deck. The area is protected by a windscreen, yet its without any barriers to natural light or visibility. A sliding glass door closes this area making it pleasant to stay on board in any latitude, even hot and humid ones—thanks to an air conditioning system. Even with the salon door closed, there remains a sense of continuity with the outdoor area. The cockpit area, both inside and out, resides on one level without any steps. In fact, everything with the XT 36 was intended to speak to a direct relationship with the sea.

The exterior design shows prominent lines, both forward and aft, which extend the living spaces while giving dynamism and momentum. The cockpit has a comfortable sitting area along with a grill and a sink set into the furniture. Access to the swimming platform, generous in size, is a cinch, as is moving around the rest of the vessel, with an obstacle free passageway that runs the entire perimeter of the boat. Forward is the main sunbathing area, plus another one on the hard top, which can be used when the boat is moored. The covered cockpit area houses, in addition to the pilothouse, a lounge with a convertible sofa, and a kitchen.

SALONE

All of the lower deck space is dedicated to the sleeping area, which boasts some neat solutions for a boat of this size. The XT 36 is available in two alternative layouts: with two cabins and two bathrooms, or three cabins and one bathroom. It's up to the owner's needs of course, although neither layout sacrifices comfort, conviviality or intimacy.

Evolution continues at Cranchi

Design and technology are the two main driving factors of progress in the nautical sector. Over the years, Cranchi has invested in both, and today is now undertaking an important revamp of its range, to offer yacht owners state-of-the-art boats that meet the highest standards of safety, comfort and quality, which have distinguished Cranchi products for decades.

An ever closer collaboration between the shipyard and internationally renowned yacht designer Christian Grande has inspired Cranchi to develop new projects such as the XT 36, and to restyle a few of their older models—which are set be seen at the Cannes Yachting Festival.

The shipyard is already working on medium- and long-term projects to not only help broaden the Cranchi range, but also to push the range into new dimensions.

Of late, the company has made significant investments in research, development and infrastructure. In the shipyard, new materials are being experimented with, new technologies are being adopted and boats are produced according to the principles of Lean Manufacturing and Industry 4.0. Specialists work in synergy with originally designed robots that no other shipyard in the world is using at this time, according to Cranchi. This technological leadership means increased production reliability and cost effectiveness while providing significant customization opportunities, including the choice of color for its hulls. In fact, through a special new painting process, the shipyard can exact the color of each yacht according to the shipowners’ wishes.
