Cool In Camo: Meet the Couach Hornet 1300 Tender


Teams from the Chantier Naval Couach shipyard and designer Franck Reynaud have transformed the French builder’s fast military boat, the Plascoa FIC (Fast Interceptor Craft), into an aggressive, high-tech pleasure boat with an attitude. In a marriage of Couach’s trademark deep-V hull, Rolla propeller system and Arneson drive shaft, the 44-foot (13-meter) Hornet makes a unique tender option with high-speed seaworthiness. Twin 800-horsepower MAN R6 diesels add the necessary muscle to break 50 knots. Aesthetically, her design team took the military concept all the way down to hull’s paint finish, which is an aggressive blue-gray camouflage motif.
